I Watched the Oscars Last Night
Posted 02.23.09Ok, I'm going to start this with a disclaimer. I hate award shows.
I really do. Having to sit through the Grammys made me groan, and I was expecting more of the same about the Oscars. Just industry people giving each other hand jobs about how great they are. But even coming into the equation with my mind made up, I was pleasantly surprised.
The show was actually entertaining. It was narcissistic in the sense that Movie people are really into being movie people, but of course they are, it's what they do.
The sets they used were cool, the entertainment was fun, and there's really nobody better at receiving an award than someone who acts for a living.
I don't think I'm going to change my mind about award shows in general, but respect where it's due, I was entertained.
